Sacral vs. Non-Sacral

In my content, I talk about my experience as a Non-Sacral energy type in Human Design. Let’s define what that means.
The Sacral center is the home to general life force energy, creativity, sensuality, and it rules the gut/digestive system. If your Sacral center is colored in, you are a Sacral type. If your Sacral center is white, you are a Non-Sacral type.

Sacral
If you are a Generator or Manifesting Generator, you are a Sacral energy type. All Generators have a defined Sacral center. Generators wake up each morning with a full tank of Sacral energy to use up throughout the day. When Generators are using their Sacral energy on aligned things, it gets the Sacral motor revved up and creates even more energy. When Generators are using up all their Sacral energy on unaligned tasks that don’t satisfy them, it depletes the Sacral tank much quicker.
Although Generators and Manifesting Generators have this consistent energy, they are just as prone to burnout as the other energy types. The difference is the strategy to heal burnout. The common solution to burnout is just resting more. While rest is important for every human, Generators and Manifesting Generators aren’t going to get out of burnout from rest alone. They need to use their Sacral energy more but it needs to be in aligned and satisfying ways. A burnout Generator/Manifesting Generator needs to spend time on their creative pursuits and passions to break out of the burnout cycle.
Non-Sacral
A Non-Sacral type has an undefined Sacral center. This includes Projectors (me!), Manifestors, and Reflectors. Having an undefined Sacral center means that we do not have consistent access to creative/life force energy. We are not designed to work and create consistently, we are here to follow our own rhythms and we are able to be efficient with our energy. Projectors work/create best in short spurts throughout the day with plenty of rest in-between tasks. Manifestors work/create best when they are following their urges. They are able to shut out the world to be in their creative flow for a few days or weeks and follow it up with a rest cycle while they wait for the next creative urge. Reflectors have all centers undefined so their creative/work flow is dependent on the environment they are in or where the planetary transits are.
Because Non-Sacral types do not have consistent access to creative energy, we are more prone to burnout. Generators make up 70% of the population, so our societal standards are based on their energy level. Non-Sacrals get to experience Sacral energy by being in the presence of a Generator. Our undefined Sacral centers pull in their creative/life force energy and amplify it. It feels really good to be in the energy of a lit up Generator but it can be hard to wind-down from it. Having the language of Human Design and understanding your chart is so important because it is easy to mistake Generator energy as our own energy, making us Non-Sacrals susceptible to overdoing it. As you learn more about Human Design and your own chart, experiment with your own creative flow and rest needs.
